FutureSkills Private High School (Est. 1997)
A real alternative to public schools in Toronto:
FutureSkills is an independent multicultural secondary school located in NorthYork, a part of the Greater Toronto area, known as the GTA. FutureSkills offers high school credit courses for secondary students in Grades 9-121 who are working to complete their OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).
Accredited Credit Courses:
All of our courses2 are fully approved and accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Summer School, Day School, Night School:
We are pleased to inform you that like previous years, FutureSkills will be offering Summer Credit Courses day and night in August 2011. We offer an extensive number of in class and online summer school credit courses for grades 9 - 12. Our summer school courses deliver a full semester’s worth of instruction over an intensive four week session in August. Students have the option of attending for one or more credit courses which are delivered in morning, afternoon or evening during the summer 2011.
ESL:
FutureSkills High School has an extensive base of international students. We offer a range of ESL courses3 which prepare our international students for their linguistic integration into the Canadian English speaking community.
Virtual (e-learning) & Independent study:
Some students may find it difficult to study at the school due to other commitments or because they live too far from Toronto. Consequently, FutureSkills High School offers on-line courses also known as elearning through a variety of online courses. Internet based courses allow students to complete accredited high school credits from the comfort of their home. On-line or e-learning courses are subject to supervised exams. Students who live in nearby cities like North York, Toronto, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, Newmarket, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Brampton, and Mississauga are expected to attend FutureSkills for their major exams. Otherwise, they must arrange for a proctor, approved by FutureSkills, at their own expense.
TOEFL:
As an accredited (TOEFL test) center, our international students have the convenience of both preparing for and taking their official TOEFL exam at our institution, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Computer:
Computer training is available for those who want to either learn basic computer skills or upgrade their knowledge to stay competitive in their field. Computer credit courses such as ICS2O, ICS3C, ICS3U, ICS4C and ICS4U are also offered.
Tutoring:
In addition to our classes, one-on-one tutoring sessions with qualified tutors are available seven days a week, in a variety of subjects including Math, Science, English, French, Arts, Social Science & Humanities, Business and Computers. We provide students with customized lesson plans which are highly effective in upgrading students' marks and/or fast tracking in preparation for college or university.
University and College Admission:
Every year we assist our full-time students to apply through the OUAC or OCAS to the Ontario universities or colleges respectively. The OUAC (Ontario Universities' Application Centre) and OCAS (Ontario College Application Service) are non-profit organizations that act as central bureaus for managing the processing of applications to universities and colleges in the Canadian province of Ontario. Over 90% of our fulltime students go on to post-secondary education and gain admission to the institution of their choice.
International Students:
More than 130,000 students come to study in Canada every year and even more come to Canada to learn English or French. A large number of these students, choose Ontario specially Toronto as their final destination in Canada. Foreign students enrich our classrooms with their culturally diverse knowledge and skill base and are thus a welcomed addition to our school. Upon request, the school can send students all the necessary admission documents required for applying for a Canadian Study Permit (Student Visa).
