art Works art School
Is a community based art school whose mandate is to introduce adults, teens and children to the enriching world of art in a positive, creative and healthy environment. Adult Programmes offer a variety of art lessons for novices, as well as the more experienced in a supportive and structured environment. Teen Programmes focus on developing technique and encouraging confidence with the medium of choice. Several of our programs focus on portfolio preparation for high school, college and university, ages 11-17. Children’s Programmes provide art instruction for children aged 3-13 years with special emphasis on the development of visual awareness, elements of art and design, personal expression, confidence in problem solving, improved self esteem, imagination and comfort with materials. March Break will be for ages 4-6, 6-9 and 9-13 during March 11-15, 2013. Our instructors are all qualified teachers who receive enthusiastic reviews from their students. We consistently have more than ½ of our classes filled with returning students. In addition to long term courses, Art Works seeks to involve the community through a range of art related activities, family days, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and open houses. Volunteer Opportunities are available for; high school students needing their community service hours, co-op students, internships and graduates seeking to gain experience before teachers college. We offer a wide range and level of opportunities as technicians, teaching assistants, administrative assistants and gallery curatorial assistants. Refer to our web site for more information.
